mission
The Law Office of Steven Alizio, PLLC was established in 2017 with two main goals:
Increase access to special education advocacy
Provide the community—and especially parents—with knowledge of special education rights
A Commitment to Increasing Access to Special Education Advocacy
The Law Office of Steven Alizio, PLLC, is dedicated to ensuring that students with disabilities receive appropriate educational services and placements. Steve began his career in special education law as a fellow in the Special Education Unit of the New York Legal Assistance Group (“NYLAG”), where he provided free legal services to low-income New Yorkers. Steve continued to volunteer part time at NYLAG after his fellowship concluded, and earned a Certificate of Recognition through the Mayoral Service Recognition Program for his work with NYLAG’s Special Education Unit in 2017.
Steve was a Junior Board Member of INCLUDEnyc, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting "love, equity, and access for young people with disabilities." Steve continues to maintain a strong relationship with INCLUDEnyc—a regular sponsor of The Law Office of Steven Alizio’s Know Your Rights Conferences. Currently, Steve continues to promote large-scale special education advocacy as a member of the Action for Reform in Special Education Coalition, member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, and member of the Education Law Task Force (led by Legal Services NYC).
The Law Office of Steven Alizio strongly believes that money should not inhibit students' access to a free appropriate public education. As such, it represents parents/guardians of students with disabilities using a flat-rate sliding scale based on each family's income.
